HenryG
After some advice from fellow fencers, been asked to give a price for a pretty large deer fence job (6000 metres) usual spec strainers every 50m and change of direction with posts every 3m ground decent and all fence lines accessible by machine, all materials on site so literally turn up and fence, the job is 1 hour from home, just wanted to know a ball part figure to what other contractors would be quoting per metre based on above description..........much appreciated
Nicholsonsforestry
Hi Henry We charge in the region of £9 a metre, all struts are box struts we charge extra for those hope this helps. Most of our deer fencing is protecting new tree plantations so we use Lht deer net and our intermediate posts spaced out at 6m
D A MacDougall Fencing
Hello Henry It is a unusual spec sound like it will be more like a wall than a fence what are they trying to kep in our out. Start by working out what the materials are working out per meter. I find that worck well for a start then take into account all the other factors , eg access ,travel, ground conditions etc and compition lol. Hope that helps
Frontrowfencing
We price each job, on a job by job basis so don't have a set figure. We would hope to get 100 to 150 metres a day up and finished complete on average so if we think we can manage that, we just divide how much we need per day by the distance we expect to do. as you say if they want a strainer every Chang elf direction, it depends if there is 1 change in direction over 100metre or 10 changes of direction, it will all make a difference. wijncoop
What does the cusomer ask Put up a deer fence with a life time for 10 15 or 20 years or more I think the price is less importent when you can put up a fence with a life time for 15 or 20 years If the customer want it cheap you must buy the chaepest produkts you can find and you maybe come back over 6 or 7 years If we put up a deerfence we need about € 15 but we price each job so each job is different I convince that for the customer the best produkts in combination with a good contractor the cheapest fence is for 20 years life time Beert
HenryG
Thank you for advice, as in first post we are not supplying the materials purely just erecting the fence, just didn't want to be to dear or to cheap.....
Frontrowfencing
We have a deer quick fencer, but never used it, was wondering about selling it. Maybe of interest if you get the job.

Robbell
id be looking for £4.50 to £5.00 / m for a spec like that on reasonable going, its a lot of timber to knock in, id try and change the spec, turners as required, box strainers, post every 4 or 5m (asuming wire is HT) and pull the price back accordingly
Ben Fencin
Has anyone had good luck with using the standard quickfencer running two rolls of 4' wire two high instead of using the 8' tall rolls of wire and quick clamp? Somewhere I saw a video of this.
