Forestry Commission Woodland Capital Grants 2015

The Forestry Commission have announced today that applications can now be made for Woodland Capital Grants 2015.

Those applying for the Woodland Capital Grant – formerly known as the preliminary woodland grant offer – to plant and manage new woodlands in England do so under the new £900m Countrywide Stewardship scheme. The scheme will help rural businesses to improve the countryside, with the Woodland Capital Grants in 2015 prioritising support for:

  • Creating and maintaining new woodland for biodiversity and water benefits including flooding
  • Woodland management plans
  • Tree health

If you are interested in applying for any of the available 2015 grants, make sure you register on the new Rural Payments system as soon as you possibly can.

Alternatively you can call the Rural Payments Agency on 0300 020 0301.

Agents will also need to register on the new system to be able to help their clients claim rural payments.

Some grants will require a site visit prior to the application being accepted and, because the time available to apply is not very long, it is highly recommended that any interested parties visit gov.uk as soon as possible to access the guidance available. Applicants can speak to the Woodland Officer at their local Area office to gain an understanding of the scoring system for Woodland Creation, and arrange for a site visit to be made.

From the information we have seen, and certainly from the way it's worded on their website, this appears to be information just for England at the moment...it may be best to give the Rural Payments Agency a ring (03000 200 301) and ask them directly.

If anyone has heard any details about FC grants for Scotland this year, please feel free to share :)

Aye, but try finding anyone wi enough time to do a submision for you. All the agents are flat oot with the maping. Submisions have to be in b4 end o May and the contracts don come out till 2016 an there wont be many of those. No ones got the time to do them. Looks as tho wel be waiting till 2017 and the nexxt round to see much work.
