Robsweetingfencing
Had a customer ask me to fit some 8x4 ft glass mirrors around her ménage. Has anyone else done this and how? My thoughts was to fix them to exterior ply wood with RSJ for the post as she wants steel post.
Frontrowfencing
Hi robsweeting, I have just had an email through tonight asking the same thing. Is your customer in Lincolnshire. Maybe it's the same, just struck me as odd as how I got an enquiry within a couple of days.
Charliehub
I've not done any but a company was putting some up on a job we were on, just at one end of an outdoor menage they used timber posts think they were 5x4s they ran rails on these that the mirrors were attached to but also braced the posts behind with another angle posts. The wind resistance must be quite large on it and does not look too pretty at the back ..! Thought at the time glad we're not doing that
S J H
We've put some up, we used 9x3" at 2.4m, 3 4x2" bearers with 18mm was ply I'd say the failing would be the ply delaminating in the weather, unless the customer would pay for marine. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=911602865584910&id=180720205339850
Robbell
instead of ply use plastic stock board
S J H
instead of ply use plastic stock board I think it would move too much, it expands a fair bit in heat.

HullFencing
I have! Was a few years back mind so cant remember exact specs but was mounted on ply using a specific type of bonding which doesn't damage the mirror backing, the mirrors were then framed around the outside with batten leaving some space for expansion an shrinkage as I had seen them crack from this in the past, must have worked as they're still up and fine. I will see if I can find some pictures.
