Box Strainer

Somewhere I saw a diagram showing why the second brace post should be a smaller diameter then the straining post. Anyone know where I can find that?

I imagine it allows a little give/yield, whereas if a fat post was on the inside of the line of pull it would take all the strain and nullify the other.

I do recall why, was just hoping to find it for reference to show someone.  The wire is not pulled from the tangent of the post, it's tied off so you're pulling closer to the center.  A smaller post puts the brace more in line with the direction of pull.  If you use the same size post it puts the brace out of alignment.
