I brought a box to avoid cutting through the treatment layer of the strainer but couldn't justify the cost of using all the time. I find them very quick and easy to use, but had plenty of practice notching so the benefit is limited. I still use them on small strainers (although they work better on larger posts) and on temporary fences so the strainers can be reused easily.
