Isle of Lewis Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 I keep stripping the bolts on my fencing clamps, I'm being gentle honest! Any thoughts? would the steel be too soft and the claps aren't too old they are pretty non generic clamps. Have a useful guy that welds new ones on
RED STAG Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 I replaced all my bolts with m16 bolts because of this and use a impact wrench to tighten and untighten only use HT wire Though lasts years and I have them on and off lots. The only thing that fuuuks them is soil in the threads so try to keep them clean.
Goaty Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 I imagine higher tensile bolts will sort it. They start at 4.4 standard is 8.8 then upwards. Coarser thread should help as well.
Isle of Lewis Posted August 31, 2016 Author Report Posted August 31, 2016 Sand kills them too! Dunes not good!
Goaty Posted August 31, 2016 Report Posted August 31, 2016 Maybe the wedge type will suit you better.
Robbell Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 been fencing with clamps close to 20 years and never stripped the threads
