Isle of Lewis
So how long is a sharpened chain lasting you? Seems strainers, posts n stays seem to give them a hammering! I regularly sharpen them myself now!
Robbell
i buy ready pointed strainers and for the struts etc use a carving bar that is solely for that. felling and firewood etc i buy 100 foot real and make my own up and always sharpen and dress the bars myself as and when necessary
SAWYERFENCING
We sharpen our own using one of those disc sharpeners. I agree when notching out some strainers it can ****** them up I'm going to try a carving bar in future.nothing beats a new chain fresh from the packaging . Robbell
carving bars are very hard and if you get a bur on them you do need a grinder to dress them up
Isle of Lewis
Yeah I have the bench top disk for sharpening and the guide bar on the chain in front of the cutters regularly needs filling down. Where would I get a carving bar? worth a try though I'm thinking it would take longer, I do love my chainsaw

I knew someone doing chainsaw comps who filled the back of the cutting teeth to the same angle as the front edge
