Thegoatman22
Any one have some advice on how to tie a nice tight figure four knott in ht, every time I try I get a crappy loose knott.
West Fork Fence
I had to do a search to find a figure 4 knot, and I think it is what we call a reef knot? Are you tying under tension, or just making a splice? I find a figure 8 knot easier to tie under tension than a reef knot. To get a reef knot good and tight, I like to tie the square knot bit first, and put some tension in it before I wrap the tails.

Thegoatman22
Looking at YouTube it is the figure 8 knot that I can't seem to get right. I have been using mostly the speed knot for my braces and joining ht lines. For splicing fences I have been mostly wrapping to make like a barrel knot, and doing the termination knot to tie off to the post.
tepapa
You can only really tie a figure 8 in loose wire which will tighten as you tension the wire. To join wire under tension with a figure 8 its probably better doing a Tex brown (look up in the strainrite bids) which a variant of the figure 8. Thegoatman22
I have watched that one, I guess I need to practice it. It's kind of a confusing one 2 hours ago, tepapa said: You can only really tie a figure 8 in loose wire which will tighten as you tension the wire.
