Figure 8 snapping

As per title really

we join all of our netting with figure 8 knots unless centre pulling when we use crimps

anyway with recent snow (big 8ft plus drifts) we have had two of the joins come apart, all 8 wires have snapped in the knot.

had anyone ever had this?

I've had some plain wire snap in the knot during periods of extreme cold(-25 F), but always chalked it up to using too hard of wire, and maybe having stretched it a bit tight in the summer heat.  What brand of net, and do you have any pictures?  I'd like to see it, if you do.
